This is an attempt to document how the concert sound industry was invented, developed, and matured through the 1960s, 1970s, and up into the 1980s at which time ‘off the shelf’ loudspeaker systems made it possible for just about anyone to get into the business.  The pioneers built their own loudspeaker systems, mixing consoles and other things that could not be purchased merely with a sufficient line of credit.
